Master Teacher Eric Shepherd

I'm Zoey. I'm in 11th grade. I am also a member of our school's golf team. In my free time I love to go to the movies with my friends and play Guzheng at home. I joined the program because I can practice English and learn more.

I’m Kayla and I’m 16 and an eager junior in high school where I’m forcefully retained until graduation. In my school, I like to involve myself in everything. My top three activities are theater, student council, and show choir. In my free time, I spend it with my besties, together we are always doing something exciting. This Chinese class appeals to me because it’s new and exciting and a challenge, which I will always embrace. I love meeting new people, and will be your friend in an instant, all you have to do is be able to deal with my loquacious personality.

I’m Lindsay and I’m a senior in high school. I am a post secondary student (instead of going to high school, I take college classes), and I am interested in Chinese because of my sister (Lyric or Gao Ling Rui). I am interested in movies, art, manga, ooks, and foreign foods.

Howdy. I’m Lyric, huge dork obsessed with manga, or anything Asian, music, and mostly art. In my free time, you’ll find me in a nice, quiet place drawing my life away. I wanted to learn Chinese, so I thought “Yay! Opportunity strikes again!” Oh yea! I’m also great at German and French! Talk about lovin’ languages!

My name is Miranda and I am a senior in high school, where I participate in volleyball, Spanish Club, and academic team. Outside of school, I enjoy dancing and reading, but my passion is traveling. I am studying Chinese because I am interested in languages and plan to study linguistics in college.

Hi ya I’m Virginia! All my riends call me V.Con. I’m a junor in high school, and I play basketball and volleyball all the time. In the little free time that I have, I text, I chill with my friends, I text, I like to listen to super rad music, like the Jonas Brothers! And then I text some more. I also like to drive, but watch out! I’m pretty terrible, and I’ll probably never get my license. I want to learn Chinese because it’s a great opportunity and it could make me more successful later in life. Also, I think it will be pretty cool when Kayla, Emily, and I speak Chinese in school next year!

Hi, my name is Arthur. I am going to be a freshman in college next year. I am a member of the marching band and various ensembles in my school. My hobbies mainly involve gaming and animal related things. I am here as a peer mentor.

Hello. I’m Chen. I’m a sophomore at The Ohio State University. I’m a member of Asian Business Student Association. I like to read books, play ping-pong and hang out with friends in my spare time. I’m here to be a peer mentor hoping to best help everyone and make more friends.

My name is Lilly. I will be a senior in high school next year. I play field hockey and row crew. I am a member of Latin Club, and I am a freshman mentor at school. I enjoy watching movies, listening to music, taking art classes, and traveling. I am in the Chinese Academy as a peer mentor.

I’m Kathy and I will be a junior in high school. At school, I’m a member of our Link Crew, I’m president of Latin Club, and I’m a member of orchestra. In my free time I hang out with friends. I’m taking Chinese because I like the sound of the language and enjoy the culture.

My name is Rahwa and I’m going to be a junior in high school. At school, I’m in orchestra, Interact, and I’m also a Spanish tutor. In my free time I like to read and hang out with my friends. I want to learn Chinese because I am interested in learning other languages. Also I hope to take my medical career around the world, so now I can go to China!

My name is Thom and I will be entering my junior year of high school this fall. My hobbies include playing games like “Dungeons and Dragons” and “Warhammer”. I am a member of my school’s “In the Know”/Quiz Team, and have appeared on said program. I took Chinese because I plan to enter politics and the Chinese-American relationship will become even more important in the near future.

I’m Ned and I am a senior in high school. I am a member of the varsity volleyball team and a member of the National Honor Society. I like to hang out with friends and play sports. I am interested in a career in teaching high school.

My name is Tyler and I’m a senior in high school. I enjoy tennis, cross country, golf, and frisbee golf. My hobbies are traveling, learning languages, church and community activities, and watching movies. I am learning Chinese for fun and in hopes to one day visit China.

Hi, my name is Jenniel Rhasiatry. I’m going to be a junior in high school. My hobbies are playing bass guitar, graffiti, learning languages (Japanese, Korean, and now Chinese) and hanging with friends. I’m learning Chinese because I love learning foreign languages, and I’m considering making languages my career.

I’m Chelsea and I will be a senior in high school next year. I participate in theatre and key club. In my free time I like to read, go to the movies and hang out with friends. I’m taking Chinese because I enjoy learning new languages.

I’m Pierce and I’m a senior in high school. At school, I’m in the National Technical Honors Society and on the honor roll. In my free time, I like to draw, chat on the computer, and hang out with friends. I’m learning Chinese because I like eastern languages and I want to be able to talk to foreigners.

I’m JonLuke and I am a senior in high school. I’m involved in no extracurricular activities at school, but I work twenty-forty hours per week. In my free time, I enjoy playing and watching baseball, basketball, and football as well as listening to 80’s and 90’s hip-hop music. I’m taking Chinese because the course’s completion will open many career opportunities and $1000 is always helpful to a high school student.

My name is Aliza and I’m a junior. I run track and I sing alto in choir. My free time is spent between friends and family. I’m taking Chinese because I really like languages and I think Chinese will be useful later.

I’m Zach and I am a senior in high school. I am a member of the varsity volleyball team. In my free time, I like to hang out with my friends and play video games. I am taking Chinese because I’m considering a career in International Business.

I’m Kirstin and I’m a senior in high school. I run cross country and I play softball. In my free time I read, play softball, and chill with my friends. I’m taking Chinese because I love languages and there are a lot of job opportunities concerning Mandarin Chinese.

I am Josh and I am a junior in high school. At school, I am the French Club vice president and in cross country. For fun I like to hang out with my friends and surf the web. I am taking Chinese because I enjoy foreign languages. I would like to become a linguist some day.

Hey, I’m Janae. When I’m at home, I like to read books, talk on the phone, go online, watch tv and play with my dog. Away from home, I like to hang out with my friends. I play piano and take tae kwan do. At school, I’m on the newspaper staff and I am a part of the jazz band and student government. I wanted to learn Chinese because I want to go into International Studies in college, and Chinese is one of the languages I want to learn. I also thought it would be pretty cool.
