My name is Lihong Wang, and I am the Chinese instructor on the Miami University Oxford campus. I grew up in China and studied for my masters degree in the U.S. I began teachng Chinese as a second language four years ago. I really enjoy teachng language in general and Chinese in particular.
I currently tutor Chinese for the Regents' foreign language program. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at Kent State University and continued my undergraduate studies in Chinese at Miami University for 1 year. I plan to do my master's work abroad in philosophy, semiotics and research the transformation of Chinese characters during the Han Dynasty.

I'm Zoey. I'm in 11th grade. I am also a member of our school's golf team. In my free time I love to go to the movies with my friends and play Guzheng at home. I joined the program because I can practice English and learn more.

I'm Emily and I'm a junior in high school and am in the junior senate. I love football, shopping, texting and hanging out with my friends. I love driving my dad's huge truck, but I rarely drive over 20 mph. I'm taking Chinese because I think this will help me in whatever career I choose.

I’m Kayla and I’m 16 and an eager junior in high school where I’m forcefully retained until graduation. In my school, I like to involve myself in everything. My top three activities are theater, student council, and show choir. In my free time, I spend it with my besties, together we are always doing something exciting. This Chinese class appeals to me because it’s new and exciting and a challenge, which I will always embrace. I love meeting new people, and will be your friend in an instant, all you have to do is be able to deal with my loquacious personality.

I’m Lindsay and I’m a senior in high school. I am a post secondary student (instead of going to high school, I take college classes), and I am interested in Chinese because of my sister (Lyric or Gao Ling Rui). I am interested in movies, art, manga, ooks, and foreign foods.

Howdy. I’m Lyric, huge dork obsessed with manga, or anything Asian, music, and mostly art. In my free time, you’ll find me in a nice, quiet place drawing my life away. I wanted to learn Chinese, so I thought “Yay! Opportunity strikes again!” Oh yea! I’m also great at German and French! Talk about lovin’ languages!

I'm Michael and I'm a senior in high school. I am a member of marching band, chess team, academic team, and the Science Olympiad. In my free time I like to play chess and hang out with my friends, I am taking Chinese because I enjoy learning languages.

My name is Miranda and I am a senior in high school, where I participate in volleyball, Spanish Club, and academic team. Outside of school, I enjoy dancing and reading, but my passion is traveling. I am studying Chinese because I am interested in languages and plan to study linguistics in college.

Hey I'm Tanielle and I'm a junior in high school. At school I play soccer, volleyball, basketball and softball. My hobbies are texting my friends, chillin' with my friends, and just relaxing. I am taking Chinese because my grandma wants me to go to school in China to learn about their culture and lifestyle.
I'm Tara and I will be a senior in high school. I'm in my school's color guard/flag corps and I am in French Club and Spanish Club. When I am not busy with school, I like to read or play frisbee with my friends. I am taking Chinese because I love learning languages. I'm considering a career in Foreign Service, so any language I learn will come in handy.

Hi ya I’m Virginia! All my riends call me V.Con. I’m a junor in high school, and I play basketball and volleyball all the time. In the little free time that I have, I text, I chill with my friends, I text, I like to listen to super rad music, like the Jonas Brothers! And then I text some more. I also like to drive, but watch out! I’m pretty terrible, and I’ll probably never get my license. I want to learn Chinese because it’s a great opportunity and it could make me more successful later in life. Also, I think it will be pretty cool when Kayla, Emily, and I speak Chinese in school next year!

Hello, I'm Christina! At school I participated in choir. In my free time I study Chinese and listen to music. I wanted to be an assistant peer mentor because I want a career in the future using Chinese, and because I love the language and want to help share it with others.

My name is Yunxin Zhang. I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at OSU. My research areas include Chinese language pedagogy, Chinese films studies, Chinese ethnic minority cultures and literatures, and video production.

Hi, my name is Arthur. I am going to be a freshman in college next year. I am a member of the marching band and various ensembles in my school. My hobbies mainly involve gaming and animal related things. I am here as a peer mentor.

Hello. I’m Chen. I’m a sophomore at The Ohio State University. I’m a member of Asian Business Student Association. I like to read books, play ping-pong and hang out with friends in my spare time. I’m here to be a peer mentor hoping to best help everyone and make more friends.

In my free time, I enjoy playing and watching baseball, basketball, and football as well as listening to 80’s and 90’s hip-hop music. I’m taking Chinese because the course’s completion will open many career opportunities and $1000 is always helpful to a high school student.

When I’m not studying Chinese, I enjoy shooting the breeze with my friends and other time-wasting activities. I want to learn Chinese because I want to learn every language I have access to and would like to travel to China in the future.

 

My name is Madeena and I’m a junior in high school. In my spare time, I like to read, watch movies, and hang out with my friends and family. My favorite season is summer and I’m hardly ever inside when the sun is out. I’m taking Chinese because I want to work for the UN someday or become a translator.

I play piano and take tae kwan do. At school, I’m on the newspaper staff and I am a part of the jazz band and student government. I wanted to learn Chinese because I want to go into International Studies in college, and Chinese is one of the languages I want to learn. I also thought it would be pretty cool.

Hi, my name is Quan Jiahong. I am a Chinese TA at OU, majoring in linguistics. Although teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL) is not new to me, the learning and teaching experience in languages has instilled in me a genuine love for teaching In my spare time, books and movies are my favorites.
My name is Xiazhu Su (Sophia). I am a graduate student studying International Corporate Media at Marietta College. I have a strong interesting in broadcasting and been awarded several prizes and honors in China for my leadership experience off campus including being named "Zhenjiang Broadcasting Host 2005." Currently, I really enjoy the time spend with American students a! s a peer mentor.

I’m Annie and I’m a senior in high school. At school, I’m involved in show choir, track and field, NHS, National Spanish Honor Society and AFS. Outside of school, I’m a competing member of the United States Figure Skating Association and I play piano.

I’m Cynthia and I’m a senior in high school. Right now I’m focusing on my studies but I was previously a member of the marching band and a member of the choir. I’m looking into a career in game development, working with programming. I’m taking Chinese because I enjoy the Asian culture and I’m hoping my career will eventually allow me to travel to the far east.

In my free time, I enjoy singing, dancing, drama, and anything concerning the performing arts.
